Source : Various Released: March 21 2018The Bourbon Tabernacle Choir were an extremely prolific band. They wrote a vast number of songs which were never recorded and they would also litter their live shows with a multitude of cover songs from Funkadelic to Al Green to Love and even The Trammps. It was part of what made seeing them live so exciting. No show was ever the same and you never knew what you were going to get. I figured it would be a good idea to bring together as much of their unrecorded and cover versions as possible and the result is this 49 song compilation. The only studio cut is the final song We Can't Wait which was recorded for Shy Folk but ultimately left off the final album. I also included a version of Waiting In A Hurry as they used to do a version with the song Sweet Beats buried within. Technically Sweet Beats was released on the Don't Talk, Dance! moniker but not BTC. The remainder of the songs were all taken from live tapes which can found on this site. I selected the versions included based on which had the best overall sound. Instead of trying to come up with a flow for songs I decided to leave it based on the date of the performance of the song - that way at least the sound quality will be the same for those drawn from the same shows. That being said the sound quality does vary considerably throughout and I haven't edited tracks for fade in/out. I'm not sure who wrote some of the songs so I've noted them as (?). If you know the author of the song let me know and I'll update the page. I've also added the location and date of the show. Hope this fills in some gaps or jogs some memories or brings back some happy memories.
